General News Cubs Reporter

The Cubs Reporter for General News Desk is responsible for reporting and writing news related to Politic and General Affairs in Indonesia and internationally. The ideal candidate is passionate about news, has strong writing skills, and possesses a keen eye for detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Research and Field Reporting:

1. Research to gather information for news stories.

2. Interview sources, including experts, witnesses, and officials, to collect accurate and reliable information.

3. Attend events, press conferences, and meetings to report on current events and developments.

4. Build and maintain relationships with experts and stakeholders as pools of sources in reporting.

Writing and Reporting:

1. Write news articles following established editorial guidelines, The Jakarta Post’s writing style, and journalistic ethics.

2. Craft engaging and informative headlines and leads to capture readers' attention.

3. Produce accurate and well-structured news stories that meet publication deadlines.

Fact-Checking and Editing

1. Verify the accuracy of information obtained from sources.

2. Cross-reference data and statistics to ensure credibility and reliability.

3. Collaborate with editors to review and revise news content for clarity, style, and grammar.

Multimedia Content:

1. To complement written articles, create and edit basic multimedia content, such as photo and data visualization images.

Requirements

1. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. Candidates must have a deep interest in journalism and news development.

2. Bachelor's degree in all majors is welcome to apply. Candidates in journalism, communications, English, or a related major will be prioritized.

3. Candidates must have excellent English language skills, especially in writing.

4. Candidates with English writing portfolios will be prioritized.

5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

6. Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

7. Flexibility to work irregular hours and ability to travel domestically
